Choir camp has come to an end. To me, it wasn't just about the 3 days spent in school. A lot of planning was involved as well. It is an entirely different experience being among the group to execute the activities, than being the one who takes part in them. I had 2 roles in the camp. I was both the food and money IC. Being a money IC is self-explanatory =P. However, being a food IC seemed alien to me, as I had never ordered food for a large group of 60 people. It was also frustrating when the food caterer mixes up your orders. However, this is inevitable. During the amazing race, I was placed at 3 different stations. First was the sky bridge. I had them count the number of holes in the railings. =P Although this may seem very torturous, I tried to be more generous by expanding the range of answers, and told them that they did not need to half-squat while doing their punishment. :) Next, I moved to the Eco-pond. I had to put the clues in bottles, and throw them into the water. The members could go into the pond only after 5 minutes, which means they had to improvise a way to take the bottles. More importantly, they had to work together. I was astonished to an extent when Ms Sharma came out halfway and questioned me o.o Thankfully, I wasn't in any trouble. Finally, we had to go to East Coast Park. I was supposed to be stationed beside a lake, but there was miscommunication and I ended up turning the wrong turn after exiting the underpass. I managed to walk to my station after a long while. I hid the clues under the stone bench I was sitting on, but apparently everyone is smart enough to find it. >:( Aside from the fun and games, there was also practice, which is important as well. During the camp, I managed to understand my peers more in the way they act outside of the music room as well. I also learnt to be more responsible. For instance, I accidentally left the keys with the mountain of foam boxes of food. The keys are to unlock the room where everyone's bags were in at first. Imagine if someone took the keys :O Other than that, I also learnt that sometimes, we should not let other people to tell us before we do something. It's like a rock rolling down a hill. This has been seen on many cartoons where a gigantic rock lies stationary on the hill, but it started moving because a much smaller rock managed to roll down the top of the hill and push it. Why be the larger rock when the smaller rock obviously acted first? This is good in times when there is no smaller rock, and the larger rock has to take action on its own. Woah... Even though the camp was supposed to benefit mostly the other members, I felt I have also benefited significantly. Besides that, I also enjoyed myself. I even enjoyed sleeping on canteen tables. There are swarms of mosquitoes to accompany you and the temperature is relatively cool. It's better than sleeping in the hall/Indoor Sports Hall. Now that the camp is over, I'll start preparing for next year. :o |
